About Me

Elodie Vandeberg Psychologist Central and Stanley Wellness blue.jpg

Life is based on movement. We are born, we take our first steps, we grow, we leave, we move from city to city, from country to country. Everything is a matter of movements: in the atoms that make us up, in our cells that activate until they can move in our daily lives. At the source of all these movements is a fascinating organ: the brain.

Passionate about neuropsychology since my first year of undergraduate studies, it was easy for me to say that I wanted to build a career in this field by becoming a psychologist. From my first internship experiences, mainly in rehabilitation within various institutions for children and adults, to my years of doctoral research, I continued to specialize in understanding the cognitive and biological functioning of the brain.

However, cognitive functioning is just one aspect of a person's identity. My professional experience and training have also shown me the importance of considering the human being in its entirety. Our life story, our experiences, our culture, and our values are all parameters to consider. In this life journey, we sometimes face events that leave marks and can freeze our thoughts and behaviours. These traumas and beliefs about oneself can exert a significant influence on our daily lives. This influence impacts our psyche but also affects the body through various symptoms (sleep difficulties, digestive issues, chronic pain, etc.), resulting from a nervous system impaired by these traumas.

Engaging in therapy allows us to recognize these beliefs, to reanalyse our behaviours with a different perspective, to develop our capabilities, and to process events. Therapy is about bringing back life movement into our psyche. As a therapist specializing in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I support my patients in their unique stories to help them on their journey.

My philosophy is to help my patients from a young age to support their development and to understand their unique functioning through psychological assessments as well as therapeutic follow-ups to help them find their own life path. I accompany children, adolescents, and adults in a space of confidentiality, kindness, and safety.
